Now winging their way to the ACT |
- Leichtes Weizen
- Blonde Ale
- Export Stout
- Tripel
- Saison
- Dusseldorf Altbier (this one is Simon's entry. It's delicious)
I'll post tasting notes for all of these ones soon and the competition results, good or bad when they're back.
I've often wondered how these things work. I assume these are bottled conditioned, so doesn't posting them stir up all the sediment? Do the competition organisers give them time to settle?
ReplyDeleteHey Brad, as I understand it they'll arrive tomorrow and will live with one of the organisers until the 12th so it really depends on the transport at that stage. For the Leichtes Weizen and the Saison, some cloudiness is desirable and the Export Stout is completely opaque so I'm ok there. For the Tripel and Blonde Ale I'm at the mercy of handling and I'll just have to wear any penalty for presentation. This is my first go so I'm mostly trying to gauge where I'm at.
ReplyDeleteOne day I'll pull the trigger on a kegging setup and then beers that need to be clear will be force carbonated and bottles with a counter pressure bottle filler. People who talk about home brew as a money saving venture don't appreciate that there are always more toys to buy. :-)
yeah I haven't found it a money saving exercise, and I have a pretty basic setup!
DeleteWhat competition is this for? I'd be keen to see how your entries turn out!
ReplyDeleteI should have made that clear shouldn't I? It's the ACT Amateur Brewing Championship. Since we don't have our own organisation, there's a provision for Tassie guys who want to enter the state comps to do so through the ACT competition. I've got no idea how many actually do it but it's nice to be able to participate.
DeleteExciting! Let us know how you and the beers fare!
